All PTO requests need to be submitted via Wufoo form to Jameka Morrison: Cardiology Fellow PTO/ Time Off Request Form (wufoo.com).
Please let the Chief Fellows know when your PTO has been approved, so it can be accounted for when schedules are made.
Journal club, M&M, Echo conference, and Cath conference will be distributed among all three classes. For the most part, these conferences will be scheduled as follows:
Morbidity & Mortality will be done by the previous month's junior Consult Fellow
Cath conference will be done by the previous month's junior Cath Fellow
Echo conference will be done by the previous month's junior Echo Fellow
Journal club will be done by the previous month's junior Stress Fellow
If there was no Fellow on the previous month, then the conference will be assigned to a Fellow at the discretion of the Chief Fellows.
Wednesday Conferences will only be presented by 2nd and 3rd year fellows.
Weekend days and off-service weekend days will be distributed as follows:
Call weekend days will be covered by the Consult Fellow(s).
Non-call weekend days (off-service weekend days) will be covered by all Fellows during the months of July, August, and September.
Following this, off-service weekend days will be covered by assigning 1st year Fellows first, followed by 2nd year Fellows. Any remaining off-service weekends will be equally distributed among first-year fellows based on who has done the fewest off-service weekend days.
ER Call
The group/service on call will see all patients that either have not seen a Cardiologist before, or who do not follow with any of the other private practices in the area. For example, if Fayetteville Heart Center (now hospital-based group with Cape Fear Valley) is on ER Call then they will see all patients who present to the ED or who are already admitted who are followed by Fayetteville Heart Center attendings in their clinic, or they have not seen a Cardiologist in Fayetteville area. ER call is a 24 hour call, not in-house, and includes STEMI call.
Group Call
There are certain groups that have only one doctor; because of this, some of the groups participate in a "mega group" on the weekends, meaning whoever is assigned to cover the mega group for that weekend covers consults, emergent calls, and STEMIs for ALL of these groups/providers.
Who participates in group call?
Fayetteville Heart Center
Cumberland Cardiology
Carolina Heart Physicians (Dr. Agodichi Nwosu)
Ferncreek Cardiology
Carolina Heart and Leg
Who does NOT participate in group call?
Cape Fear Cardiology (also covers Valley Cardiology)
Premier Cardiovascular Center (Dr. Kingsley Okoraofor)
We have the potential to work with most, if not all, cardiologists. However, we typically work most with core faculty, then teaching faculty, then everybody else. When making decisions about which attendings' cases to attend, the decision should be made using that hierarchy: Core > Teaching > Everybody else.
Core Faculty:
Dr. Bahekar, Dr. Patel, Dr. Lokhande, Dr. Ejeh, Dr. Jyothidasan, Dr. Bhandari
Teaching faculty include:
Dr. Hodges, Dr. Ortiz
